Planning for the ecologically sustainable harvest of marine resources: A Philippine experience
Abstract:
In the Philippines setting, CRM planning and implementation is based on the concept of community-based resource management, wherein the local community takes active participation in the management of the bay's resources. In this case, issues and problems, policies, strategies or actions and institutional linkages in the coastal area are better discussed at the community level. The CRM centers on the development of management system on a baywide level. It is integrated and viewed from the perspective of the bay as a management unit and as an interrelated system. The goal of the CRM plan is to maintain the environmental integrity of the coastal and fishery-related systems of the bay.
