Plant Layout Selection Procedure Based on Discrete Event Simulation Software


Abstract:

This article develops a reference to adequately select the most efficient Layout in manufacturing processes based on discrete event simulation software. The case study is an example of a small business sausage production that was simulated using FlexSim software, a powerful simulator with a friendly graphical interface. This research provides a guide to a clear vision of the efficiency of any manufacturing process in terms of total process time, distances traveled by operators, idle time, and production costs. It can be a clear guide to applying this kind of methodology, especially in small and medium businesses, to improve their performance and competitive worldwide.
