Plasma pituitary and steroid hormones and endometrial steroid receptors in women with fibrocystic disease of the breast

Abstract:

Plasma LH, FSH, prolactin, estradiol, progesterone, testosterone, androstendione, dehidroepiandrosterone and dehidroepiandrosterone sulfate levels were normal during the luteal phase in women with fibrocystic disease of the breast. Endometrial specimens showed secretory transformation in the histological study and endometrial estrogen and progesterone receptor concentrations were within the normal range. It seems that fibrocystic disease of the breast is not necessarily associated with abnormal luteal function.
