Politics 2.0 on Twitter. Presidential Campaign in Ecuador

Abstract:

The article analyzes the presidential campaign in Ecuador in 2021 based on 2.0 communication and the sentiment of the discourse of political candidates. For the analysis, the timeline publications of the candidates were extracted, and the 2.0 communication evaluation model was applied. Likewise, data processing was performed with the Linguistic Inquiry and Word Count (LIWC) tool to determine the emotionality of the publications of the political leaders in the campaign. As a result, the type of communication was unidirectional, mostly positive, but did not generate engagement with voters.
