Pollution prevention by manufacturing concrete with nanoparticles

Abstract:

The present investigation shows an alternative in the manufacture of high strength concretes based on the addition of silica particles of nanometric size in variations of 0.5%, 1.0%, 1.5%. 2.0%, 2.5% on the weight of the cement, which allow to improve both the physical and mechanical properties of the concrete in a fresh and hardened state. The results obtained are supported by comparing a standard mixture with and without silica nanoparticles by means of compression tests, indirect traction, modulus of elasticity, poisson coefficient and bending in beams. At the same time, the manufacture of this type of concrete of a sustainable nature is considered by creating structures with smaller cross-sections that allow the reduction of materials, mainly cement, being safer, durable and that guarantee its functionality, this through a 8 and 20-story structural model where the properties obtained are reflected.
