Postkeratoplasty ocular hypertension
Abstract:
We performed an exploratory study with the aim of presenting the main aspects related to the diagnosis and treatment of postkeratoplasty ocular hypertension. We performed a literature search of key articles of the past 10 years related to the topic, as well as printed literature that includes the subject. The most relevant content was selected for the preparation of the final report. It was found that ocular hypertension occurs more commonly after penetrating keratoplasty and a compromised graft. Appropriate measures before, during and after surgery help reduce intraocular pressure, it is necessary to recognize the early rise in IOP and indicate the appropriate treatment; specialists in cornea and glaucoma must work together to identify and meet the medical and surgical decision in view of the behavior of refractory glaucoma, that required trabeculectomy combined with pharmacological therapy with antimetabolites. Other surgical procedures include use of drainage and trans-scleral cyclophotocoagulation.
