Predominant Cultural Dimensions in the University of the Armed Forces ESPE


Abstract:

The organizational culture describes the identity that a social group has and represents a competitive advantage that allows to face changes and overcome crises. Precisely, this work is part of the research “Study of organizational culture, classroom situation and university performance in higher education institutions in Ecuador”. This project characterizes the predominant organizational culture, identifies the cultural dimensions, and establishes the relationships between the cultural variables at the University of the Armed Forces ESPE. Questionnaires from cameron and quinn’s cultural models and Daniel Denison’s are used. In this way, a sample of 450 people is analyzed, composed of 131 teachers, 185 students and 134 public employees. The results reveal competitive advantages in the organization, such as, member capacity, continuous learning, formal structure that allows internal unity and achievement of objectives, and the mission that gives meaning to the work.
