Preferences Of Use Of Social Media Among Patients With Cystic Fibrosis: A Pilot Study In Latin America
Abstract:
Methods Observational, cross-sectional study. Patients with diagnosis of CF atended at Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in Guayaquil were included in the study. An adapted version of Michigan questionnaire was delivered to these patients. It was used descriptive statistics in order to determine at least weekly use of Social Media, and interest in receiving or asking information through any Social Media. Results. 18 patients were enrolled. Half of patients were female, and mean age was 11.7 (SD 5.9). 88.2% of patients reported owning cellphone, 66.7% reported owning smartphone, and 75% had access to internet. 88.2% of patients reported using Facebook at least once a week of, followed by Internet (87.5%), YouTube (86.7%), Email (80.0%), SMS (68.8%), Twitter (57.1%), LinkedIn (38.5%), and Skype (38.5%).
