Preferences of use of social media among patients with obstructive respiratory diseases depending of generation's cohort in Latin America
Abstract:
RESULTS 930 patients were enrolled, 59.2% were males. Baby boomers represented most patients (31.5%), followed by millennial (19.6%), X (14.7%), silent (14.3%), Z (12.3%) and GI generation (7.6%). X generation reported higher rates of owning cellphone (96.5%), but millennial reported the highest rates of owning smartphones (77.2%), and Z generation the highest rates of access to internet. Millennials reported the highest rates of at least once a week use of internet (73.9%), Facebook (71.5%), email (68.5%), YouTube (54.5%), Skype (32.5%) and Twitter (32.1%)(p< 0.001). X generation use SMS at highest rates (83.8%)(p< 0.001). Z generation were most interested in receiving and asking information about disease by Twitter (31.0% and 19.5%), but Millennials were most interested by Email, WhatsApp and Facebook (57.6%, 75.8%, and 47.7%)(p< 0.01).
