Prevalencia de edentulismo parcial según la clase de Kennedy en pacientes que acudieron a la clínica de la Facultad de Odontología de la Universidad de Cuenca durante los periodos 2012-2016
Abstract:
OBJETIVE: Determine the prevalence of partial edentulism according to Kennedy's class in patients who attended the clinic of the Faculty of Dentistry of the University of Cuenca during the periods 2012-2016. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A descriptive and observational study was carried out. A total of 206 clinical histories were evaluated through the Kennedy classification, of which 63 were men and 143 were women between the ages of 20 and 80 who received treatment at the clinic. The Faculty of Dentistry of the University of Cuenca that consist of the archive area between the periods 2012-2016. RESULTS: A higher prevalence of class III was observed with 57.8%, followed by class II 13.1%, while class I was 8.3% and class IV was 0.5%, and there was no association between sex and the type of arcade affected by edentulism. CONCLUSIONS: In the present investigation it was determined that Kennedy's class III is more frequent.
