Abstract:
ABSTRACT Background: The infection by the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) is a sexually transmitted disease rampant at the global level and its proven connection with the presentation of cervical cancer makes it a major public health setback, by what we studied this infection in patients who came to the Outpatient Care Center 302 of the Ecuadorian Institute of Social Security. Objective: To determine the prevalence and risk factors for infection by the Human Papilloma Virus in high-risk women who attended the Center for Ambulatory Care 302 of the Ecuadorian Institute of Social Security in 2013. Methodology: Analytical cross-sectional study, carried out in the center of attention of the IESS ambulatory of the city of Cuenca, the medical histories of patients which have been requested an examination for detection of Human Papilloma Virus; the analysis of data was performed using the statistical package SPSS version 15; use descriptive data with measures of central tendency and dispersion to the association the calculation of the value of chi-square with a 95% confidence and to measure the size of the effect the prevalence ratio (PR) for the statistical significance p-value. Results: The prevalence of infection by high-risk HPV was 72.7 % being genotype 16 the more frequent with the 48.75 %; HPV infection was higher in patients aged 31-40 years with 72.3 %; of origin and residence in the urban area with the 72.7 % and 74.5 % respectively; in women divorced 78.6 %; with a level of higher education 76.9 %; with household chores 87.5 %; patients who began their sexual life at the age of 19 years or earlier with the 73.9 % and in patients with 3 or fewer sexual partners; only the age at first sexual intercourse was associated with HPV infection , and the start Your sex life at the age of 19 or less increases the risk of HPV in RP 2.6 (95% CI 1.7 -4.03). Conclusions: infection by HPV high-risk is high in our population and is associated with the initiation of sex life Key Words: HUMAN PAPILLOMA VIRUS, SEXUAL LIFE.
