Prevalencia de insuficiencia renal aguda en pacientes de 18 a 80 años con cuadro de Pancreatitis Aguda atendidos en área de Gastroenterología del Hospital General IESS “Los Ceibos” de enero 2017 a diciembre 2019.
Abstract:
Background: Acute Pancreatitis (AP) is one of the diseases of the digestive system that causes more hospital admissions. It is defined as a set of potentially reversible inflammatory processes that affect pancreatic tissue. Acute renal failure (ARF) refers to the constantly decreasing glomerular filtration rate followed by the accumulation of nitrogen wastes in the body, leading to metabolic acidosis, hyperkalemia, and acute uremic syndrome. (8) ARF is associated with worse clinical outcomes that include hospital stay, admission to the intensive care unit (ICU), and it is also one of the main causes of death in patients with pancreatitis in 70 to 80%. Objective: To determine the prevalence of Acute Renal Insufficiency in patients aged 18 to 80 years admitted for Acute Pancreatitis at the North General Hospital of Guayaquil “Los Ceibos. Methods: This is an observational, retrospective cross-sectional study to be carried out in the Gastroenterology area of the Hospital General Norte de Guayaquil IESS “Los Ceibos”. The population to be studied will be the patients admitted with a diagnosis of Acute Pancreatitis within the period January 2017 to December 2019. Results: 1069 patients met the inclusion criteria. 21 patients presented ARF as a complication, with a prevalence of 2%. The mean creatinine value in these patients was 2.94 mg / dl, according to the AKIN II criteria, 29% correspond to stage 1, 19% to stage 2 and 52% to stage 3. Conclusion: The prevalence of Acute Renal Insufficiency in patients diagnosed with Acute Pancreatitis is 2%, most of the cases present severe stages of ARF upon admission.
