Prevalencia de la mala posición dentaria en infantes de 3 a 6 años de edad provocado por la succión digital en la escuela Ancón jornada matutina del Cantón Daule del año 2018


Abstract:

The occlusal effects of digit sucking habits in infants have significantly increased. The prevalence of malocclusion is related to bad oral habits. The objective of this study is to make a narrative research to determine the prevalence of thumb sucking habits. Research tools will be used to assess and prevent the occlusal effects in infants between 3 to 6 years old. This group belongs to the morning sesion of the ANCON school, in the town of Daule, during the year 2018. The study was conducted as a qualitative, quantitative, descriptive, and bibliographic research from the field. The sample consisted of 97 infants of both sexes. The results showed: 15% of the kids presented occlusal problems, and 13% was caused by digit sucking.It was found predominantly in males, with a 62%, most of them around the age of 3. After the Data Analysis was done, we concluded that the prevalence of occlusal problems were a result of digit sucking habits. Also, it was observed, that they were not practicing good oral hygiene. Finally,there were other dental habits and anomalies registered, that came out during the research study.
