Prevalencia de los tumores cerebrales en el Hospital Naval Guayaquil del año 2010 al año 2018.
Abstract:
Introduction: Tumoral injuries of the nervous system usually derive from the glia. Therefore, its characteristics depend on the cell lineage from which the lesion originated. They are classified according to a histopathological diagnosis, which provides data on its malignancy or if the tumor is primary or methastasic. Methodology: This study was an observational, descriptive, cross-sectional, retrospective study; the data was recollected in an indirect way. The population was made up of 103 patients diagnosed with brain neoplasm at the Hospital Naval of Guayaquil. Frequency, percentage, average, standard deviation, median, mode, minimum and maximum were considered for the descriptive statistical analysis, while for the inferential cross tables and chi-square test were used. Results: Males (51.45%) predominated, the most frequent age group was individuals between 39 and 58 years (42.7%), the most used surgical technique was biopsy plus resection (85.44%) and the most prevalent complementary treatment was Chemotherapy (23.3%). Conclusion: The most frequent tumor found and confirmed by histopathology were Second Grade astrocytoma, followed by meningioma.
