Prevalencia y factores asociados a flebitis postcateterización en usuarios de clínica del Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso, Cuenca 2018
Abstract:
Introduction. Intravenous therapy is an essential procedure at the intrahospital level, while phlebitis is a complication derived from this procedure caused by multiple factors. Studies conducted at the local level reflect that in the Regional Hospital "Vicente Corral Moscoso" in the city of Cuenca, in the area of neonatology 30% of infants had phlebitis in the 2013 year and in the international field in Chile, research shows an incidence of 15 to 80% in 2011. Objective. Determine the prevalence and associated factors of post- catheterization phlebitis in clinic users of the "Vicente Corral Moscoso" hospital. Methodology. A study was made descriptive, prospective, quantitative cross-sectional study. The techniques used to obtain the information were the interview and observation. The instruments that were applied are the Maddox Scale will be used to assess phlebitis in users with peripheral catheters, the Checklist and A survey developed by the researchers directed to the staff of professional nurses. Tabulation And Analysis Of Results. The information collected was digitized into a database using the program SPSS versión 20 and from this were generated distribution tables for the studied variables, using descriptive statistics through frequency tables and percentages using Microsoft Excel. Results. In the Clinic area of the Hospital "Vicente Corral Moscoso" it was found that 67.3% of the 135 users studied presented phlebitis, distributed as follows: Grade I, 29.6%, Grade II, 16.3%, Grade III, 17%, Grade IV 3.7% and Grade V 0.7%. To obtain these results, a time interval was considered before and after 24 hours of insertion of the peripheral catheter. Adult patients of 65 years of age corresponding to 39.3% and according to sex, 58.5% corresponding to the female sex presented phlebitis, also according to the time of permanence of more than 24 hours of insertion of the catheter 36 users presented phlebitis Grade I represented by the 26.7% and 1 patient corresponding to 0.7% presented phlebitis Grade V and in less than 24 hours of insertion of the catheter 3% of users presented phlebitis in Grade
