Prevalencia y factores de riesgo de la incontinencia urinaria de esfuerzo en mujeres atendidas en consulta externa de urología y ginecología del Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso. Periodo enero 2012 - diciembre 2014
Abstract:
Background. Stress urinary incontinence (SUI) is the most common type in women, is not a disease that endangers the life of the patient, but it significantly impairs the quality of life. Objective: To establish the prevalence and risk factors of the stress incontinence in women who were treated in Urology and Gynecology outpatient at the Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital Material and methods. With a cross-sectional design, the information was collected from medical histories of 2418 women treated in the period January 2012 to December 2014. Describes the demographic characteristics and discusses: multiparity, age greater than 45 years, obesity and diabetes, as factors associated of SIU, Results. The 52.4% (n = 1268) of the study population was more than 45 years, 88% (n = 2128) multiparous, 28.2% (n = 682) obese and 11.1% (n = 268) diabetics. The prevalence of sui was 10.3%. We found significant Association of sui with: multiparity [OR 2.2 (CI95% 1.3 - 3.8)] P = 0.002, age greater than 45 years [OR 1.8 (CI 95% 1.4 - 2.4)] P < 0.001 and obesity [OR 1.5 (CI95% 1.2 - 2.0)] P = 0.001. No association was found with diabetes [OR 0.9 (CI95% 0.6 - 1.4)] P = 0.880. Conclusion. The characteristics of the studied population were similar to those reported in the medical literature in equal studies. The no association with diabetes would be explained by the low overall prevalence of SUI and diabetes in patients older than 65 years old
