Prevalencia y factores influyentes del sindrome de burnout en internos y residentes de los hospitales Vicente Corral Moscoso y José Carrasco Arteaga, Cuenca-Ecuador, enero-julio 2011


Abstract:

SUMMARY Objectives. To determine the prevalence of burnout syndrome and factors related to the presence of the disease in internal medicine and medical residents at the hospitals, Jose Carrasco Arteaga and Vicente Corral Moscoso in the city of Cuenca. Material and methods. We used the Maslach Burnout Inventory Human Services Survey test version in Spanish adaptation, the questionnaire has 22 items with Likert-type scale with a seven-grade scale of values that goes from never to every day. The study was completed by 182 respondents: 56 medical residents and 126 interns, of both hospitals. Results. The prevalence of burnout syndrome was 41.02% whereas the high level of the syndrome occurred in 74.6% of the entire group.
