Principales caractéristiques epidémiologiques et impact économique de la fièvre aphteuse en afrique: Synthèse bibliographique
Abstract:
Foot and mouth disease (FMD) is a highly contagious viral disease of cloven-hoofed animals. It is probably the most important livestock disease in the world in terms of economic impact. The disease is enzootic in Africa, Asia, the Middle East and South America. Understanding the epidemiology of FMD particularly in Africa (circulating virus strains, distribution and maintenance factors of FMD virus) and estimation of its economic impact will allow improving the control strategies of the disease. The implementation of these strategies will participate in the sustainability of local populations and permit the access to the international trade.
