Process quality improvement using infocas: A case study

Abstract:

To specify or evaluate software quality, some models focus only on the process, while others focus only on the product. Nevertheless, both qualities are closely related, as shown by the systemic global quality concept, which suggests a balance between both (process and product). The Information Systems Research Laboratory - LISI, at Universidad Simón Bolívar, has developed a Process Quality Model and a Product Quality Model based on Callaos' Systemic Global Quality; however, in order to obtain the desired balance, they must be formally integrated. The purpose of this research is to propose a Formal Integration model of the Process and Product Quality Models, with a Systemic approach (INFOCAS). INFOCAS was designed to guide software development organizations in the improvement of the systemic quality level, by pointing out changes that need to be implemented to achieve the desired quality level. After following the steps for INFOCAS, it is possible to obtain a synthesis with the guidelines and changes required. INFOCAS was implemented in a Venezuelan financial organization.
