Process systematization for the analysis of agro-ecological and environmental degradation in river basins
Abstract:
A methodological proposal based on the Data Flow Diagrams (DFD) is presented with the purpose of evaluating the agro-ecological and environmental deterioration in a given area, using the knowledge of the local population. The basic premise leading this methodology is to consider the human being not just as a producer but as the recipient of the impacts (effects) that come from the physical, biological and social environment, considering that a vast part of the negative impacts received are mainly a consequence of their own actions (causes), a situation that conditions life quality of the inhabitants. The basic information used in this methodological proposal was obtained from three research projects carried out in the Motatán river basin, Mérida and Trujillo states, Venezuela; specifically in the microbasins of Alto Motatán, Monaicito, Escuque and La Palma. This process systematization, based in CauseEffect matrix, the Problem-Solution matrix and the procedure to perform the Global Analysis of Agroecological and Environmental Deterioration, constitute an alternative to carry on, in a fast and simple way, at low cost, and with the participation of the communities, this kind of evaluations. © 2007 Asociación Interciencia.
