Abstract:

A music producer is summed up in the short and coherent phrase by George Martin, Sirs, you have just recorded your number one. He said this to The Beatles Band, when they were just young men willing to be successful within the music industry, with an empiric talent and a short or none scientific knowledge. Music Production is the amount of creative and technical processes that potentiate a musical idea until it becomes a product performed by a team work and started by the composer and/or musician, who gives birth the naked and fragile product. In a convenient analogy it could be compared to a baby who has arrived in this world. The producer who receives the baby needs to be prepared, have proven knowledge about what is to be done for his effective care and development, research his own characteristics and general conditions that surround him. A musical idea must be framed in a genre with specific musicality, sound, and instrumentation that determine the style. Research is the first step that must be fulfilled to carry out a musical project. If the analogy is taken up, the baby has been identified with his characteristics; next step is to write down his needs to raise specific goals at each stage to achieve them. Music production is in charge of a baby who must become a successful man in a short time. Then organization is very important to obtain effective results. Systematization of the process implies defining times for the three fundamental stages: pre-production, production, and post-production of the theme. Only with clear objectives, decisions about processes and techniques to follow are taken. Despertar (Wake up) was a baby born of the composition of the theme and who experienced an evolution process through an instrumental assembly, creative concept, recording, technic, using of tools to locate it in the gender soundness, and time and goals compliance that have produced an adult person within a record time.
