Producción y exportación de Piñón para la elaboración de biocombustible

Abstract:

The purpose of this business plan is to produce piñón (jatropha curcas) to export its seeds (these seeds generate vegetable oil) to European countries where these raw materials are turn into bio-fuels. This plant is characterized for being suitable for biofuel production without competing with products that are used for human consumption; it can also be planted along with other crops and thus avoiding the individualized crop maintenance and soil degradation. Additionally, it can grow in dry and somewhat sterile conditions, making it easier to care for. The business plan has been divided into nine chapters: The first chapter contains an analysis of the industry where the business takes place. In this case we analyzed two major industries, including studies of the trends to determine this project’s potential. In a market study, we included a chart based on characteristics of countries which are introducing the culture of vegetable fuel as part of their energy consumption with Spain as the main market and Germany and Italy as alternatives markets. We are also establishing market penetration strategies. According to the study of the operating cycles of piñon crops, there are two anual harvest times. This plant is classified as a perennial, it lasts for forty to fifty years. The project will include workers from the administrative and operational areas. It will be lead by a group of Commercial and Agricultural Engineers as well as additional personnel dedicated to planting, maintaining and harvesting the crops. Compensation will be based on legal norms established by the state. Monetary investment for the venture will be financed by both authors of this business plan in equal amounts and a business loan for a small percentage of the investment will be requested to Banco Nacional del Fomento. Through the financial study of this business plan, it has been determined that the project is profitable and has a high return rate.
