Productive behavior of Creole goats in growth-fattening fed with hydroponic corn biomass in the Ecuadorian Litoral
Abstract:
The present work was carried out in the Centro de Apoyo Colonche belonging to the Universidad Estatal Península de Santa Elena, the experimental period lasted 154 days, 54 Creole goats (whole males) of 80 ± 5 days of age were used and average weights at the beginning of the study of 8.8; they entered a period of adaptation for 14 days to the diets, the animals were housed in nine cubicles with their respective feeders and drinkers the food was considered in a consumption of 5% of the live weight in MS plus 10% of that amount of MS calculated, presents the experimental diets (D1: Hydroponic corn biomass; D2: Hydroponic corn biomass + Commercial concentrate for goats + Corn stubble and D3: Commercial concentrate for goats + corn stubble), a completely randomized design with three is the productive performance of animals, is the productive performance of animals (live weight gain, average daily gain and feed conversion). criollos fed with or without hydroponic corn biomass. When analyzing the initial live weight, the treatments were different (P <0.001) where the group that received commercial concentrate for goats + corn stubble weighed 0.4 kg more than the other two groups. Live weight, the average daily gain; and food conversion, maintained the same growing trend throughout the cycle, where the diet composed of hydroponic corn biomass maintained higher averages (P <0.001) compared to diets D2 and D3. The latter presented the GMD and the most discrete food conversion of the study. Goats fed hydroponic corn biomass as a single diet during the capture of live weight (84.5 g / day) are very good for the Creole genotype and for the environmental conditions of Santa Elena.
