Producto audiovisual sobre la memoria histórica de la parroquia La Merced de Quito
Abstract:
In the 1960s-1970s, the first law about Agrarian Reform was created in Ecuador, dictated by the Military Organization Government, which promotes the distribution law for empty lands. Thus, in La Merced Parish, located to the south east of Quito city, this law transforms this place notoriously in a legal, territorial and economical way. In this context, the historical memory plays a fundamental role in the inhabitants of this part of the city, this one is presented with a number of lived stories. This research uses concepts as: communication, historical memory, social interaction and documentary. The audiovisual production on "The historical memory of La Merced of Quito" uses the interview technique to collect data linked to the history and memory of the parish and its legalization process. The purpose of the communicative product is to tell historical events that have occurred and influenced in the memory of its inhabitants. The documentary video lasts 25 minutes approximately, it presents the most important places along, including the social people interactions who have built their lives in La Merced, as well the independence process is known, consequences and effects that the Law of Agrarian Reform brought on the workers and the consequences in its traditional festivals which have identified them as a parish, especially the holy week festival that is celebrated each year, through testimonies narrated by the most representative characters of the place.
