Programa de capacitación a madres adolescentes que cursan el nivel bachillerato sobre la estimulación temprana en los niños y niñas en su primer año de vida, Cuenca distrito sur, marzo – septiembre 2015

Abstract:

BACKROUNG: “Teenage pregnancy has a major repercussion on the development of women, because this usually interrupts their scholastic formation and causes difficulties for their incorporation to the job market; also, a high percentage of cases become into single mothers with the consequent personal and family impact "(1) According to Ministry of Public Health, the average age to begin sexual activity in Ecuador is 14 years old, but 2 out of 10 teenagers initiate their sexual intercourse at 12 years old. In the city of Cuenca, there is an average of 1.800 teenage pregnancies each year. OVERALL OBJECTIVE: To train teenage mothers, who attend high school level, about the importance of Early Stimulation in the psychomotor development of children in their first year of life. METHODOLOGY: A quasi-experimental study was performed. Working with 80 teenagers attending high school level at Colegio Nacional Manuela Garaicoa de Calderón and Colegio Técnico Antonio Ávila Maldonado, by designing a pre – test to evaluate their knowledge about early stimulation in the first year of life; subsequently, lectures were conducted about Early Stimulation and finally we evaluated using a post – test, where very satisfying results of knowledge of mothers about benefits of Early Stimulation, were obtained; before the lectures only 36% believed in the benefits of Early Stimulation and after the training there was an 89% who did.
