Programa de educación ambiental para reforzar el muestreo participativo de bioindicadores en las parroquias Tundayme y Pachicutza del cantón el Pangu
Abstract:
The activities of environmental education developed have arisen in response to environmental degradation and threats to protected areas of special interest with the purpose of analyzing the behaviour and attitudes of environmental awareness and verifying the degree of the population's participation in activities related to the environment. This study took place within two rural parishes located in the canton El Pangui province of Zamora Chinchipe, namely Tundayme and Pachicutza, where environmental education workshops were organized, primarily focused on the preservation and care of forest and water resources, Through activities to solid waste management and going beyond this to participatory samples of coprophagous bio-indicators and benthic macroinvertebrates. The methods applied included that with "pit-fall" traps and that with the use of a grid like "surber" respectively. Was achieved the participants learnt to perform these bio-indicator sampling techniques enabling them to apply these practices within their community. Additionally, by means of the workshops, the study it was verified that the children had certain attitudes of value and respect for the environment, thus recommending the frequent implementation of these activities in other sectors thanks to the effectiveness they have in connecting the population.
