Project road map for uncoupled lean six sigma

Abstract:

The Lean Six Sigma model used at Tecnológico de Monterrey, as well as other traditional approaches, was said to be coupled by its tools, since it integrated both Lean and Six Sigma methodologies overlapping both set of tools along the DMAIC phases. Participants faced problems implementing the methodology and a recent poll fulfilled by project coaches revealed a poor satisfaction level of 21% with current model. Using an existing idea of an uncoupled model that follows the principles of Axiomatic Design and Structured Design, a new Lean Six Sigma project road map was developed and implemented, obtaining a new satisfaction level of 80%. The following paper describes this road map as well as the implication that this may have for Lean Six Sigma practitioners. Copyright© (2009) by the American Society for Engineering Management.
