Proposal for a medical tourism scenario in the territory of the Saraguro culture in the province of Loja.
Abstract:
This topic proposes a medicinal tourism scenario which represents an initiative for the collective benefit of the Saraguros. Similarly, it aims to revitalize the ancestral culture of one of the few indigenous peoples that still exist in Ecuador. The present research has the objective to identify the different ancestral medical practices in their different categories, the medicinal plants and the sacred places used by the people who own the" Yachak" wisdom to perform healing ceremonies as well as Andean rituals. The geographical area of this research is located in the province of Loja, parish of Saraguro, canton of Saraguro, and also in the parish of San Lucas, canton of Loja. The compiled information comes from a relatively rare and select bibliography related to the topic in mention. The research is of an exploratory-descriptive type, since the situations, customs and attitudes of a little or never before studied topic or problem are hereto examined or explored. Bibliographical references along with interviews and the participant observation implemented on the people knowledgeable in ancestral medical practices were used as instruments. All of the above mentioned elements give as a result the proposal of a scenario or medicinal tourist product that allows to diversify the touristic offer of the canton of Saraguro.
