Proposal of a smart parking system with IoT sensors

Abstract:

From 2016 to 2018, the vehicle fleet almost doubles, according to the Association of Automotive Companies of Ecuador (AEADE), this implies the need for efficient management of parking spaces. This work proposes the implementation of an intelligent parking system with Internet of Things technology (IoT). A wireless network was implemented with Arduino and Nodemcu, with a sensor node and another data collector that determine the status of parking spaces in real time, the information is transmitted over Wi-Fi to a K2S01 server (FL-US) and through a smartphone interface the user is able to reserve an available space. The tests carried out determined an absolute error of ± 1 cm in the distance measurements, 1% in the repeatability of the data and 48.5% in the improvement of the times in the vehicles at the time of the search for spaces, showing it is an efficient and reliable system.
