Proposed ecotourism activities in RAMSAR areas: the case of La Tembladera wetland, El Oro province.
Abstract:
The present research work aims to describe eco-tourism attractions in RAMSAR areas by means of a proposal with activities in La Tembladera wetland, El Oro province, Ecuador. The research is of exploratory-descriptive type with interviews and observation guides used as the instruments to apply on the people responsible of the wetland administration. Fieldwork was carried out in different periods. During the first period, site walks were made; in another period, cycling and finally, information of the kayak tour was collected. Each group was composed by Hospitality and Tourism career students of UTMACH with the support of local guides. The information for the design of the routes was obtained by taking GPS points. The results consisted in the elaboration of three route maps proposed for cycling, kayaking and trekking. Finally, with the help of said three routes the general map of the tourist activities was made. All these proposals will promote rural tourism and the economic improvement of the living conditions of settlers in La Tembladera wetland.
