Propuesta de protocolo médico para la identificación precoz de los efectos a la salud por exposición a formaldehído, clorobenceno, tolueno, xileno y acetona.

Abstract:

The objective of this project is to propose a medical protocol, in order to identify the health effects of exposure to formaldehyde, chlorobenzene, toluene, xylene and acetone. This medical protocol shall benefit the occupational health professional and their workers under his/her care, especially when they are on the track of the preventive medicine at their workplace. Also this could be the beginning of a process that allows occupational physicians being proactive to start their own research. The present study is based on the Resolution CD 390 which states a "List of occupational diseases" in the first annex. The object of this investigation from volatile organic compounds that would be discussed in this study, was taken from the set mentioned it before. The following results that were obtained from this research are: 1) A matrix that includes general information about the pollutant under study, as well as the specific data to correlate the Ministerial Agreement 142 of the Ministry of Environment in Annex A, to identify it as banned hazardous chemicals, with acute or chronic toxicity. 2) The establishing of the specific characteristics as threshold limit values (TLV's), dose and lethal concentration (LC50 - LC50). 3) A classification based on the effects from an acute and chronic exposure. 4) A carcinogenicity classification, metabolites, Biological Exposure Indices (BEI's), characteristics of sampling. Each of the identified factors allowed the creation of this proposal for medical protocol that is merely a set of recommendations on diagnostic procedures that should be used with all exposed population.
