Propuesta de reestructuración del currículo del bloque matemático de la carrera de matemáticas y física de la Facultad de Filosofía de la Universidad de Cuenca


Abstract:

The present research work is a proposal for restructuring the educational curriculum of the School of Mathematics and Physics of the University of Cuenca, specifically the mathematical section of it. It aims to become a document to guide future changes that will be boosted as a consequence of the implementation of the new laws which govern the higher educational system. The present proposal consists of four chapters. The first one is a revision of the theoretical background necessary to serve as the base to elaborate the proposal, in particular, the Constitution of the Republic of Ecuador, the Law of Higher Education and its Rules and Regulations in theAcademic System. Since the proposal is related to the career where primary and secondary school teachers are prepared it was also necessary to review documents for those levels. The second chapter presents general aspects concerning the curriculum theory. It also analyses specific features of the curriculum of mathematics and the teaching methodology. Chapter three is the proposal itself. It explains the process that has been followed in order to obtainthe final goal that is to set a proper plan that improves the curriculum of the career. Additionally, a relationship between the learning outcomes and the contents to be studied in school and high school years is established with the purpose of providing the subjects with their corresponding numbers of cbkp_redits and cbkp_redit hours. The result is the design of a suitable curriculum that meets the current needs. The final chapter deals with conclusions obtained along the process and offers important recommendations.
