Propuesta educativa para mejorar los hábitos alimentarios de madres de las parroquias de Taday y Pindilig, Azogues 2011
Abstract:
Introduction. The health education is particularly important in knowledge, attitudes and dietary habits of the population, studies show that it improves them by more than 20%. Objective.- Contribute to the adoption of healthy lifestyles by development an educational project based on the model of meaningful learning to improve knowledge attitudes and eating habits of mothers of children under 5 years and mothers of students of 6 to 10 years of the parishes of the Pindilig and Taday of Azogues province of Cañar 2011. Method. - This study is a clinical trial type, with an intervention group and a control group in which an educational intervention based on meaningful learning theory was implemented, with pre and posttest. The intervention included group format applied in food issues. The study included 76 mothers in the intervention group and 79 in the control group. The groups were comparable considering the variables educational attainment and marital status of the mother by testing Chi-square test. Results.- In general the education program gave favorable results, knowledge of mothers regarding food increased in the intervention group showing statistically significant difference between groups (p <0.001). Conclusions.- The educational program from Learning Theory promotes significant improvement in nutrition knowledge and food, mothers significantly improved knowledge assessed.
