A Toyota Corolla Hybrid GUI Based on Simulink and LabVIEW for Live-Data Acquisition and Monitoring System

Abstract:

Hybrid and electric vehicles make for an environment friendly alternative to conventional vehicles, following worldwide trends of ecological transportation, less energy-consuming systems and pollution reduction overall. From universities and academy in general a new imperative requirement for learning and training of students and technical staff about new electric drivetrain systems has become the most efficient tool to adapt these systems to our context, understanding its inner workings and developing new methods to exploit and improve performance, therefore creating a quicker way for new users to adopt and transition to an alternative-fuel vehicle. This research shows a new approach for a LabVIEW-based easy-to-use data acquisition system with a built-in GUI for live monitoring and data storage for further simulation system via Simulink, giving teachers and students the capability of observing and analyzing the actual behavior of the different physical magnitudes from a vehicle and setting a benchmark for advanced research efforts of electric and hybrid drivetrains in Ecuador.
