A Two-Dimensional Texture Based Image Processing Algorithm for Analyzing Images of Nanoparticles Obtained by Electron Transmission Microscopy

Abstract:

This paper presents an algorithm based the twodimensional Hurst operator for detecting edges and characterizing texture and distribution information in nanoparticle images. Results using this technique are shown for both nearly spherical and more irregularly shaped particles. The results obtained suggest superior performance over existing techniques; with further refinements the algorithm may provide a useful tool for nanoparticle research.
