Análisis del impacto de las salvaguardias en los costos de importación de nueces y su efecto en el consumo del mercado ecuatoriano período 2015-2018
Abstract:
The importation of nuts in Ecuador represents 17% of the total dry products in the country of a total of the family that are made up of other products such as almonds, raisins, prunes, blueberries. In the month of March 2015, it is Ecuadorian state by decree 01-2015 imposes an over tariff for the period of 15 months that went from 5% to 45% additional to the tariff recorded by the imported product. This type of safeguard occurs after having several years of negative trade balance and after frustrated attempts to balance it, this type of restrictive measure is imposed on imports and consumption of non-national products. The nut is a natural product, dried fruit, healthier thanks to the balanced composition of its fats. With only 25 g of walnuts (5 pieces) 91% of the daily needs of omega 3 fatty acids is satisfied; It also provides proteins (15%) and presents a remarkable percentage of vitamin E, vitamins of group B, and minerals and trace elements such as phosphorus, magnesium, manganese, copper, zinc and iron. During the application of the safeguard the imported volumes decreased by 85 thousand kilos per year, which represents 2.2 million dollars per year. After the safeguard, volumes increased 537 thousand kilos per year, equivalent to 6 million dollars annually.
