Prospección de insectos que atacan al cultivo de arroz Oryza sativa L. antes de la cosecha y en centros de acopio
Abstract:
The present research work named „Prospection of insects that attack rice (Oryza sativa L.) crops before harvesting and at storage facilities‟ took place in Daule, Guayas Province with 20 samplings, which were taken to the field and 10 samplings obtained at the piler (storage center). Each sample of rice grains weighted around one pound in total. The identification of the invading insects the rice was performed at Agrocalidad Entomology Laboratories. A vast majority of the insects found belonged to the Coleoptera Order, from the following families: Botrichidae, Tenebrionidae, Curculionidae, Silvanidae, Laemophoeidae; and members of the Lepidoptera Order from the Gelichiidae family. The species with the higher predominance on the field was Sitotroga cerealella from the Gelichiidae family, Lepidoptera Order. At the storage centers, the most common insect species found was Rhyzopiertha dominica, from the Botrichidae family, Coleoptera Order; and finally, the next frequent species found was Sitophilus Oryzae from the Curculionidae family, Coleptera Order.
