Prototype system for brainwave analysis of military personnel and determine their ability to make decisions in stressful situations.

Abstract:

In recent years, the acquisition and analysis of brain waves have been a fundamental source in order to improve human-computer interaction, since they lead to know several disorders and health problems of an individual such as: mental, psychological or disabilities; as well as the development of various systems (software and hardware) as alternatives to treat these problems, thus providing a better lifestyle. The objective of this research was to obtain, process, and analyze the brain signals from a sample of Ecuadorian military personnel, starting in the cerebral cortex the electroencephalogram (EEG) Emotiv EPOC + device, to obtain the data of the alpha brain signals (relaxation state) and Beta (active state) through a Computer Brain Interface (BCI) EmotivPRO. Later, in the experiment, auditory stimulus is applied to relax the person, accompanied by a test of abstract reasoning; finally, visual stimulus to generate stress with a second abstract reasoning test, in order to verify the ability to solve problems.
