Prácticas de estilo de vida de los adultos mayores diagnosticados de hipertensión arterial esencial en el Area 2 de Salud de Cuenca, 2011
Abstract:
Objective Determine the lifestyle practices in elderly patients diagnosed with essential hypertension attending the Area 2 Health Cuenca, 2011. Material and Methods We conducted a descriptive study, a sample of 130 hypertensive patients from a total of 269. The sample was random, representative and weighted for each health center. The size was calculated on the basis of the known universe and a cross-sectional research that found a prevalence of smoking in the general population of 20%. Results The mean age was 73.8 ± 8.4 years, 75.4%, female, 93.1% had an education level between 1 and 6 years, 63.8% residing in urban areas and 44.6% were diagnosed hypertension the last 4 years. 41.5% were overweight, obesity 22.3% and 30%, poor control of hypertension. 81.5% were sedentary, 78.5% adding extra salt to meals, drank alcohol, 4.6% and 1.5% smoked. Conclusions Most were sedentary and added extra salt to meals and drank alcohol or smoked minority.
