Psicological factors associated to vigorexia in gym users of azuay in the period 2016-2017


Abstract:

Vigorexia is a problem in which the person looks different from what he really is, creating physical, nutritional, behavioral routines and an obsession for the development of muscle mass, in addition to behaviors that tend to the verification of his muscular development, as That of measuring and weighing yourself constantly. The research carried out has a non-experimental quantitative approach of descriptive type, nonprobabilistic intentional sampling of unpaid volunteers; Composed of 100 people, for which the Adonis Questionnaire was used, the data were analyzed in the SPSS program using mathematical statistical methods, frequency analysis and measures of central tendency. The dimensions of self-image, nutrition, body dissatisfaction and preoccupation with body image demonstrate a moderate range of vigorexia with prevalence between the ages of 20 and 31 years, trends in the association of these categories with sociodemographic data such as gender, age and place of residence.
