Q-analogs of the generalized Stirling and Bell numbers


Abstract:

Generalized Stirling numbers appear in a natural way as the coefficients of the normal ordering of a word in the Heisenberg-Weyl algebra of bosonic creation and annihilation operators. We introduce a new combinatorial model for the study of the q-analogs of the generalized Stirling numbers. Using this combinatorial model we obtain explicit formulas, recursive formulas and generating functions for those q-generalized Stiling numbers. © 2008 IOP Publishing Ltd.
