Quality estimation model for geographic information systems
Abstract:
Selecting a Geographic Information System (GIS) based on Free Software (FS) is a difficult task vis-à-vis its technological complexity, the wide range of this type of systems and their functionalities. Therefore, provides a set of quality characteristics used to evaluate FS-GIS. This set of characteristics is presented on the product perspective of the Systemic Software Quality Model (MOSCA), which, in turn, is inspired in the ISO/IEC 9126 standard and the Dromey's quality model. This model was applied to a case study in a State entity, which set functionality, portability, and maintainability as the quality requirements for FS-GIS. Finally, the validation of the proposal through its application to three FS-GIS is presented.
