Quality evaluation processes and its impulse to digital transformation in ecuadorian universities


Abstract:

Information and communication technologies (ICTs)affect the different processes universities develop, these institutions are fundamental to knowledge production and the development of society. ICTs are dynamic and universities face a complex challenge in order to transform into digital organizations. The objective of this case study is to analyze the inclusion of ICTs-based indicators in the quality evaluation processes of higher education institutions and to propose ICTs aspects to support the digital transformation of Ecuadorian universities. There were analyzed eight quality evaluation models applied in Ecuador in the last five years for higher education institutions and career accreditation. There was determined that a native impulse for digital transformation has been present in the quality models applied, digital transformation drivers were defined in order to offer a guide to include digital aspects in each quality criteria that impulse digital transformation at Ecuadorian universities.
