RESPONSE OF PEARS ON DRIP IRRIGATION IN BELGIUM.
Abstract:
Whereas most of the research on fruit growth as a function of water stress at the Research Station for Fruit Growing in Wilheminadorp has been focused on apple trees, at the experimental station for Fruit Growing in Rillaar, Belgium, the effect of supplemental irrigation on pear production has been studied since 1974. This research was conducted with the following specific objectives to advise on the introduction of drip irrigation in orchards, which started in Belgium around the early 1970's, to study the profitability of supplementary irrigation and to define the management strategy for drip irrigation in orchards under Belgian climatic conditions.
