Reactive Power Compensation Using Power Flow Sensitivity Analysis and QV Curves
Abstract:
Voltage control is a major factor that requires constant analysis to avoid the collapse of transmission systems. The methodologies related to voltage control could be defined as static and dynamic. The present research focuses on static methods, these methods expose expose the difficulty of providing remarkable data for parallel reactive compensation when are applied individually. However, it has been possible to relate the sensitivity VQ and the QV curve to overcome this difficulty. The VQ sensitivity uses diagonal elements of the inverse matrix of the reduced Jacobian matrix, so that the methodology mentioned determines the weakest bar in the power system. On the other hand, the QV curve indicates the robustness of the system in terms of its reactive power margin (RPM).
