Readecuación de las instalaciones de la Fundación Orquesta Sinfónica Juvenil del Ecuador (FOSJE) complementando con espacios reservables para ensayo
Abstract:
This thesis presents the refurbishment of the interior spaces of the institution of the Fundación Orquesta Sinfónica Juvenil del Ecuador (FOSJE). FOSJE is a social musical program, founded in Ecuador in 1995 by director Patricio Aizaga, modeled after El Sistema of Venezuela. Its goal is to generate the opportunity for children and youths that are from low-income social classes to learn orchestra music, which historically has been a privilege only members from higher social classes could enjoy. Currently, FOSJE is located inside the Centro Deportivo Metropolitano Iñaquito (CDMI), which is a multi-purpose sports and recreation compound that is located on Av. Atahualpa and Núñez de Vela, Quito. FOSJE occupies the first and second floors of the main building in the CDMI. The interior architecture design for the refurbishment is based on three main parameters: 1) the renovation of the spaces for the young musicians, 2) the formation of a brand image for FOSJE via interior architecture, and 3) the implementation of an architectural concept. First, the main objective of this project is to renovate and bkp_redistribute the interior spaces in order to improve upon the present conditions of the institute infrastructure and generate an ergonomically suitable environment for these young musicians to carry out an extracurricular activity in learning music. Second, a color scheme has been selected and applied consistently throughout the project to create a brand image for FOSJE that users can identify the establishment with. In addition, the refurbished aspect of the interior spaces reflects the architectural typology of a musical institution. Lastly, the architectural concept of this project is sound waves. Therefore, the curved form is utilized throughout the project. Based on the curve, the following were designed: two roofs, two internal walls, three pieces of furniture and three planters for plants. The curved form implemented throughout the project provides the establishment with a unique characteristic and the curved roofs cause the building to stand out among the architecture of the surrounding constructions.
