Realidad formativa y ocupacional del licenciado/a en nutrición y dietética graduados de la Universidad de Cuenca, 2000-2011

Abstract:

Background information Currently there is no information about the reality of graduates in the area of training and occupation in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Cuenca, fortheperiod2000-2011.This research discloses this information. Methods We surveyed 5 teachers and 66students in the area of Nutrition and Dietetics at the University of Cuenca. 33 professionals and 14 employers were surveyed as well. We also analyzed the type of degree of national universities (33) and as for the international ones; the list of Universities of Excellence from SENESCYT was used. (1302). Results 14.3%of graduates do their job excellently; 42.9% do it very well and 35.7% do it good. In the work place most professionals are succeeding with their career goals. It was shown that professionals perform their working different areas mainly in clinics, nutritional counseling, and food service management. Regarding the relationship between the curriculum of study and daily practice, the graduates said that the utility of their classes is a 70-100%, very useful. It was possible the study of profile knowledge of a professional graduate, mission and vision by the professionals, teachers and students of the University of Cuenca in the area of Nutrition and Dietetics, results that allow us to determine that we need a wider diffusion. It was determined that like most World Universities of Excellence; the University of Cuenca gives a third level of education diploma in the area of Nutrition and Dietetics.
