Reciclaje y tratamiento de los residuos sólidos urbanos-industriales en Ecuador

Abstract:

This dissertation paper is about the problems that urban solid waste causes in the environment. Ecuador decided to create ministerial reforms and municipal ordinances in order to organize the waste treatment. In 2012, the Ministry of the Environment classified the wastes in dangerous, domestics, and industrials. On the other hand, the City of Loja is one of the successful cases on urban solid wastes recycling and treatment. Loja is one of the cities that anticipated this problem. In 2002, they created “The Solid Waste Integral Management Program”, where they centralized the sanitary landfill and developed a social program for environmental managers. Quito took 10 years to implement a similar plan in order to achieve a better environmental management.
