Reducing bacterial load in Anadara tuberculosa for human consumption

Abstract:

In Ecuador the bivalve Anadara tuberculosa is a mollusk specie of commercial interest that is not always suitable for human consumption due to bacteria contamination. The study determines the reduction of the total bacterial load in the organism. The exposure of A. tuberculosa to purified seawater in a period of 4.5 hours allowed to reduce the amount of Enterobacteria and Vibrios sp and the elimination of E coli.
