Reflections on Environmental Accounting

Abstract:

The article proposed a reflection on Environmental Accounting and its development from a review of the literature and as the basis of an ongoing investigation in relation to improving the teaching of this discipline in the current university programs. It was concluded that Environmental Accounting is a very active research field according to the high number of citations on average that receive contributions in that field,. the most important items were identified, the most cited, which are the basis to study for any student or teacher who want to start on the subject. In connection with the introduction of environmental accounting in university programs was established as central point, to consider incorporating this discipline and its complexity the discussion of the social and critical perspective in accounting education.
